Irene Borden Keep was born in New Orleans on November 23, 1876. Keep is listed in the 1890–91 Tulane University catalogue as a member of the College Preparatory class. She enrolled as a Normal Art student in the 1898–99 academic session. She appears as a Special Art student in the 1900–01 and 1901—02 Tulane catalogues. In the 1903–04 publication, she is listed as a pottery decorator. Irene Borden Keep Hughes died on December 8, 1954.
